75th Anniversary

of the

 45th Glasgow Company Girls' Brigade

The Girls' Brigade in Mure Memorial are celebrating their 75th anniversary this year and have enjoyed two excellent occasions recently.

On the 5th November, ex-members and current staff enjoyed a dinner at Mount Vernon Bowling Club. The attendees were regaled with stories from current and past staff, from speakers Christine McMillan, Margaret Kerr (nee Roberts) and Kate Kett (nee Mitchell). They also enjoyed singing from the staff and Julia Birkenshaw (nee Davis).

In addition, the dedication and thanksgiving service was held on the 6th November, in a packed Mure Memorial Church where Margaret Kerr presented captain Jeanette Leiper with a certificate from Greater Glasgow District to mark the occasion.

The service was concluded with a march past of the company and the ex-members. This was followed by tea and coffee and celebratory cake in the halls.

Below are pictures from the dinner and the Sunday Service. More pictures are available on the 45th's Facebook page.
